Privacy-First by Design

Drift is designed to run locally on your Android device. It does not collect, sell, share, transmit, or store personal data on developer-controlled servers.

Data Drift Processes

When motion cues are enabled, Drift processes the following data on-device:

• Linear acceleration sensor readings
• Gyroscope sensor readings
• App settings such as enabled state, sensitivity, dot size, dot spacing, dot opacity, dot pattern, and dot style

Sensor readings are used only to animate the on-screen motion cue dots. They are not stored, uploaded, sold, shared, or used for advertising.

Data Drift Stores

Drift stores only local app settings on your device using Android DataStore. These settings stay on your device and are used to restore your preferences.

You can delete local app data by uninstalling Drift or by clearing Drift's storage in Android system settings.

Data Drift Does Not Collect

Drift does not collect:

• Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account information
• Location data
• Contacts
• Photos, videos, or audio
• Messages, files, or clipboard data
• App usage from other apps
• Advertising identifiers
• Crash analytics or telemetry

Permissions Used by Drift

Drift requests only the permissions needed for its core feature:

• Display over other apps (`SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW`): allows Drift to show non-touchable motion cue dots over other apps. Drift does not read, record, control, or inspect other apps.
• Foreground service: keeps the motion cue overlay active while the feature is enabled.
• Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS` on Android 13+): shows the required persistent notification while the foreground service is running.
• Motion sensors: reads linear acceleration and gyroscope data locally to move the cue dots.

Third-Party SDKs and Services

Drift does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, social SDKs, or third-party data collection SDKs.

Children's Privacy

Drift is not specifically directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.

Medical and Safety Disclaimer

Drift may help some passengers feel more comfortable during travel, but it is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. Do not interact with the app while driving.

Changes to This Policy

This policy should be updated whenever Drift's data practices, permissions, SDKs, or backend behavior change.
